Forbes magazine included BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina in its annual ranking of America’s Best Employers, a compilation of the nation’s top 500 employers. The organization is one of seven health insurance providers nationwide — including three other BlueCross companies — to make the list. 

This marks the second time in three years that the South Carolina based-company made the annual list, which spotlights midsize and large companies in 25 industries across the United States.

“Our employees are our greatest asset,” said David Cote, vice president of Human Resources at BlueCross. “Just as our employees are responsive to our customers, BlueCross leadership seeks to create an environment that fosters excellence and professional growth, encourages community involvement and recognizes the importance of work-life balance.” 

Using data collected anonymously from employees, Forbes’ America's Best Employers list was based on more than 30,000 employee survey responses at midsize and large companies across the United States. Respondents are asked to respond on several work-related topics, including working conditions, salary, potential for development and company image
