BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Donating $500,000 to One SC Fund

Oct. 5, 2018

In its ongoing commitment to communities devastated by Hurricane Florence, BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina is donating $500,000 to the One SC Fund to support South Carolinians’ storm recovery.

The One SC Fund is a relief fund for state-declared disasters such as Hurricane Florence. Launched in 2015 following the historic flood, the One SC Fund is administered by the Central Carolina Community Foundation, and 100 percent of all donations are granted to local nonprofits working on recovery and relief efforts. Community leaders and representatives from five community foundations serve on the grant committee and work closely with the South Carolina Disaster Recovery Office to strategically distribute funds to the most vulnerable communities.

“The people affected by this historic storm include our families, friends, coworkers and customers,” said BlueCross President and CEO David Pankau. “Supporting the One SC Fund ensures that our contributions will get to those South Carolinians who need our support the most.”

After the initial damage relief effort, this fund will provide long-term grants for projects such as home rebuild/recovery, mold remediation, home furnishings and materials.
