BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina continues to earn recognition as a top employer, most recently earning a spot on Forbes’ 2022 list of America’s best employers for women.
“We are proud to once again be recognized as a top workplace for women. This recognition highlights the commitment that was started many years ago by BlueCross leadership to create an environment where all employees can thrive and succeed,” said BlueCross President and CEO Mike Mizeur. “Our goal has always been to provide employees with the support they need to grow professionally and personally.”
BlueCross has long been committed to ensuring all employees have access to career development opportunities through programs that focus on leadership training and mentorship. Last year, BlueCross launched Women in the Workplace, an initiative that pairs women who are just starting their careers at the company with women in leadership positions. Mentorship initiatives like Women in the Workplace ensure that women at BlueCross have opportunities for professional development and advancement to leadership roles.
“We have the good fortune to continue to attract incredibly talented women in our industry. Those women serve in a variety of roles at BlueCross, from customer experience and information services to our executive team. Each of those roles is vital to our success,” Mizeur said.
BlueCross ranked 34th of all large employers and third in the insurance industry. Companies were identified in an independent survey of 50,000 American employees working for businesses in the U.S. with at least 1,000 workers. The employees rated their organizations on criteria such as working conditions, diversity and how likely they’d be to recommend their employers to others. Final scores also factored in representation at the executive and board levels.
